“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3
This song was (mostly) written in the Fall of 2018. I’m sure you’ve heard, read the scripture regarding the Lord putting a new song in our mouths. I was seeking a new song and the Lord says He will put a new song in our mouth 🙂 This new song, taken from Psalm 40, is a song of praise and a plea to use me and the songs He gives for His Glory. The hope is that people will put their trust in the Lord and give Him praise!
This is a completely different style of song, somewhat folksy? I sang it only a couple of times at Algoa Correctional Center then set it aside. It seemed like it needed a bit more work before I could lead it again and so it was left undone for quite awhile. I added verse 3 just a couple weeks ago and although it isn’t recorded yet, I sang it on one of our FB Live events. The video is below. Rejoice with me, sing a new song, praise our God! He is worthy!
“I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:1-3
“I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation. As for you, O LORD, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! Psalm 40:10-11
“Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me!” Psalm 40:13
“But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the LORD!” As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!” Psalm 40:16-17
